Privacy Policy

Last updated: this version applies from theme activation. Earlier WordPress “Suggested text” boilerplate has been removed and does not apply.

BestChildrenWagons collects only the minimum information needed to operate the site and our family-planning tools. This page is the complete Privacy Policy — there is no “Suggested text” placeholder content anywhere on this page.

1. Who we are

BestChildrenWagons (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a parent-focused buying-guide site for children’s wagons, stroller wagons, and family outing gear. Contact us through the contact page for any privacy question.

2. What we collect

  • Server logs: standard web-server access logs (IP address, user agent, request path, referrer). Used for security, abuse prevention, and aggregate analytics. Rotated on a short cycle.
  • Newsletter signups: if you subscribe, we collect the email address you provide and an optional first name. You can unsubscribe in one click from any newsletter we send.
  • Comments: if you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name, email, optional URL, and content you submit alongside the post.
  • Contact-form submissions: the name, email, and message body you send through the contact page. Used to reply to you and then archived.

3. What we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect children’s full names, photos, school names, daily routines, or precise location data through any tool on the site.
  • We do not store outing log, maintenance tracker, recall tracker, packing planner, or map planner entries on our servers — that data lives in your browser only (see Section 7).
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade reader information.
  • We do not build cross-site advertising profiles of individual readers.

4. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies. The complete list is in our cookie policy. In summary:

  • Strictly necessary: WordPress login/session cookies (only set if you log in) and comment-author cookies (only set if you submit a comment).
  • UI state: a session-scoped flag that remembers whether you dismissed the sticky shopping CTA.
  • We do not set advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies of our own.

5. Analytics

If we run aggregate analytics, we use privacy-friendly tooling that does not build cross-site profiles of individual readers. We do not share raw analytics data with third parties for advertising purposes.

6. Affiliate links and Amazon tracking

BestChildrenWagons participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate we may earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. The full disclosure is on our affiliate disclosure page.

  • Affiliate links open in a new tab and use the rel attributes nofollow sponsored noopener.
  • Affiliate links carry a tracking parameter (our Amazon Associates tag) so Amazon can attribute qualifying purchases to us.
  • When you click an Amazon link, you leave BestChildrenWagons and enter Amazon’s domain. From that moment, Amazon’s privacy policy and cookies apply to your session, not ours. We have no access to what you browse or buy on Amazon.
  • We do not embed Amazon retargeting pixels or trackers on BestChildrenWagons pages.

7. Family-planning tools (localStorage only)

BestChildrenWagons offers several private tools — Outing Log, Maintenance Tracker, Recall Tracker, Packing Planner, and Map / Outing Planner. These tools are designed to be private:

  • Where the data lives: in your browser’s localStorage. Not on our servers, not on a third-party service.
  • What gets stored: only the entries you choose to save (date, destination type, wagon model, gear notes, maintenance task, recall reminder dates, route notes).
  • What never gets stored: no children’s names, no GPS coordinates, no precise home/school addresses, no real-time location.
  • Sharing: nothing in these tools is published, shared, or visible to any other reader. No public family route database exists.

7.1 Outing Log privacy

The Outing Log lets you journal past family outings — date, destination type (“park”, “beach”), wagon used, what worked, what to change. Entries are stored in localStorage only. You can export a CSV any time via the Export CSV button, or clear them via your browser’s site-data settings. We never receive a copy.

7.2 Map / Outing Planner privacy

The Map Planner is the most privacy-sensitive tool, so it gets extra protection:

  • It does not auto-locate you. No navigator.geolocation call is made unless you explicitly click a control that requires it (none of the default controls do).
  • It does not publish any plan you create. There is no public route database.
  • An explicit privacy-acknowledgement checkbox is required on every save.
  • The schematic outing board is intentionally non-geographic — it shows a generic parking → destination layout, not a real map of where you live.
  • If you optionally enable a map provider in admin (Mapbox / Google / OpenStreetMap), that provider’s terms and cookies will apply to map tile requests. We do not enable any such provider by default.

7.3 Maintenance Tracker privacy

Maintenance entries (wheel check, brake check, harness check, fabric cleaning, frame hinge, fold lock, canopy condition, handle condition, storage basket, sand cleanup, recall check date) are stored in localStorage only. Export to CSV is available. Nothing is sent to us.

7.4 Recall Tracker privacy

The recall tracker stores: model name, optional purchase date, optional serial / model number note, last-check date, optional next-check reminder date, optional recall-source URL, free-text notes. All of this lives in your browser. We do not provide official recall status — see our recall information disclaimer for the official channels you should use.

8. Newsletter and contact-form data

  • Newsletter: emails are used only to deliver the newsletter you signed up for. Unsubscribe is one click from any newsletter footer.
  • Contact form: messages are read and replied to, then archived. We do not enrich, profile, or share contact submitters with third parties.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to: access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, object to processing, withdraw consent (where consent is the basis), and lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email us through the contact page with the subject line “Privacy request”. We respond within a reasonable timeframe.

10. Deleting your data

  • Newsletter subscription: click the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email, or contact us.
  • Comments: contact us with the comment URL and we will remove it.
  • Contact-form messages: contact us and we will delete the relevant correspondence.
  • Family-tool data (Outing Log, Maintenance, Recall, Packing, Map): nothing is on our servers — clear your browser’s site data for this domain, or click Delete on individual entries inside each tool.

11. Children

BestChildrenWagons is written for parents and caregivers of young children. The site itself is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. None of the family-planning tools collect children’s identifying information. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page, and the Last Updated marker will change.

13. Contact

For any privacy question or to exercise the rights described in Section 9, please use our contact page.
